Senior Analyst/Financial Analyst

SUMMARY: 

  

This position contributes to the success of Schweid & Sons by performing period and quarterly accounting and close processes. Further the individual will support both the New Jersey and Atlanta locations for business and productivity initiatives, trade spend reporting, and ad hoc requests. 

  

Principal Accountabilities: (list in order of importance and indicate % of time spent on each) 

  • Complete period, quarter and annual closing of the financial statements 

  • Perform analytical procedures on controllable costs, including comparisons to prior period, prior year, forecast, and plan 

  • Prepare and review journal entries to ensure accurate financials 

  • Prepare periodic balance sheet reconciliations and schedules, as well as quarterly balance sheet analytics 

  • Document all processes, key controls, and desktop procedures 

  • Identify areas of opportunity for automation and simplification of Field reporting processes 

  • Manage the trade spend process 

  • Manage the daily AR balance by reviewing terms of key customers and contacting delinquent accounts in a timely fashion 

  • Assist senior leadership in forecast and analysis 

  • Provide ad-hoc projects and analysis as requested 

  • Support Period Close management of period and weekly reports across key performance metrics 

  • Reporting and analysis including periodic reporting and periodic forecast analysis 

  • Knowledge of accounting principles 

  • Researching and providing backup for bill backs 

  

  

Skills & Capabilities 

  • Bachelorís degree in Accounting and 3 years of related experience required 

  • Experience with forecasting and budgeting 

  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate analytical findings into actionable solutions and processes 

  • Ability to function well in a team environment 

  • Strong communication skills to manage information gathering requests 

  • Results oriented with the ability to complete assignments in a timely manner 

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to quickly learn various in-house software applications 

  • Aptitude to work with minimal supervision 

  

  

  

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

The work environment is clean and neat.  The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.  However, there may be times when the employee needs to go into the plant, where the noise level may be loud.
